The Birches studio unit is located on The Sanctuary, a 10-acre lifestyle block graced by ancient Totara trees, a lovely clear stream and many resident native birds. Access to the studio is a pathway lined with beautiful silver birch trees.
The unit has been fully refurbished and is separated from the main house by a double garage, ensuring privacy for guests, while having assistance nearby if required. The studio is stocked with all you need for a continental breakfast and there is a mini-fridge in the room if needed to chill wine or other essentials. Gluten free muesli and bread is available on request, as is an additional bed for an extra guest.
Guests are welcome to explore the property – please just keep gates closed and stay calm around the livestock and poultry. The beautiful Kourarau stream flows through the property and is home to some spectacular native long fin eels. The eels are fed regularly so they are accustomed to human activity and will come up close if you move slowly and quietly. Food is available if you would like to feed the eels – the sheep, ducks and geese are also always happy to be fed!
In spring, hundreds of daffodils surround the pond, and you are welcome to pick plenty to take home with you at the end of your stay.
